Biography

Dr Olaniyan has a full background in Architecture, and possesses a PhD degree in Sustainable Building Material Composites (Lime based Mortars). He is involved in the teaching of several Architecture related modules (inclusive of Sustainable Architectural Design, Building Materials, Components and Methods, Computer Aided Design, Architectural Science related modules, Research Methodology, among others). He is also involved in related laboratory-based research activities, and well familiar with scientific procedures relating to evaluations of materials’ mechanical properties, microstructural features (Porosimetry), particle size distribution (Diffractometry), chemical compositions (Energy Dispersive Spectrometry – EDS) and Thermal Conductivity. He has a number of publications inclusive of Scopus indexed journal articles, and particularly, a ‘350-page single authored Technical Textbook on the use of AutoCAD for architectural draughtsmanship titled, Fundamental Procedures in AutoCAD Drafting (Vol.1).

He has supervised over sixty (60) undergraduate projects, three (3) Master Students’ projects (and currently supervising other ten), and co-supervising two PhD candidates. His current research work focuses on Sustainable Climate Change Responsive Architectural Design Solution involving: Building Environment Performance Simulation and Analysis for Sustainable Development using Composite Building Materials, etc.; Sustainable Building Construction using Low Impact Materials, and; leveraging Building Information Modelling for Sustainable Development. He is a fully Registered Architect in Nigeria (MNIA) and involved in the design, construction and supervision of several building projects (completed/on-going). He is the current Head of the department. He has been a recipient of some academic Awards and Scholarships inclusive of Japanese Ambassador Scholarship Awards, Best Graduating Architecture Student Award, Petroleum Technology Development Fund Overseas Scholarship, TETFund AST&D Scholarship, TETFund Institution Based Research Grant, among others.
